Basketball season has arrived. We’ll get our first tasted of a new-look Tennessee team tonight as they welcome the Duke Blue Devils to Knoxville for an exhibition matchup. Tennessee begins the season ranked 18th in the AP Poll, while Duke is ranked 6th.
This game will feature two of the stars of the class of 2025 — five-star freshman Cam Boozer for Duke and five-star freshman Nate Ament for Tennessee. Ament finished the recruiting cycle ranked as the fourth best player in the nation. He’ll start on the wing
tonight for Rick Barnes.
Tennessee will also be working in point guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie, who is looking to pick up right where Zakai Zeigler left off. Reports out of preseason practice were glowing for Gillespie, who is returning home to East Tennessee to finish his college career.
Tennessee and Duke last met in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, where the Vols won 65-52. The series is tied at eight wins each, although tonight’s result won’t go in the record books.
