Another game, another dominant victory for France.
After dispatching Morocco 2-0 without breaking much of a sweat, France secured a spot in the semifinals and continued its assault on the FIFA 2026 World Cup tournament.
The French are not only — by far — the best team in this World Cup, but they are making a strong case for being one of — if not the — best international team ever.
This is not a new development, either.
In 2018, France won the World Cup in convincing fashion and in 2022, France was runner-up
after losing to Argentina…and it was all part of the build up to right now where the French are just blasting everyone.
Strong at every position group, it appears that the only way that France will lose, is if it beats itself.
Can anyone in this tourney stop, or even slow down, France? Probably not, but at least there are a few with a chance (no matter how slim it is). On the right day, Argentina, Spain, or England can challenge Les Bleus. On a really right day, maybe Norway can suffocate France and be opportunistic enough to pull of a massive upset. Otherwise…it will take a perfect effort on a perfect day where France melts down— and it does not appear as if Didier Deschamps’ boys are wired that way.
If you admire greatness, you are witnessing it. If you like watching talent meld together into one, unified monster, you got it.
If you can’t stand dynasties, well, you are stuck in the middle of one.
