Draymond Green picked up his first ejection of the season on Monday night, in the third quarter of the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Phoenix Suns. While battling for defensive position in the post, Green felt like he was shoved by Suns center Khaman Maluach. Green fell to the court, got up, wrapped up Maluach, and threw him to the ground. That led to a scuffle with the Suns, during which Green got into a tussle with old rival Dillon Brooks. In that tussle, Green shoved Brooks in the neck
area.
After an extensive replay review, Green was awarded a technical foul for each act, resulting in an automatic ejection, exactly two minutes into the second half. Brooks was also given a technical foul.
Green had gone a while without losing his cool too much, but this was, after seeing the replays, a few steps too far. The league will surely take a longer look at the plays in the coming day, and I would expect Green to be hit with a sizable fine and/or a one-game suspension.
Certainly an unfortunate play, especially given how good the vibes have been around the Warriors lately. Check out the replay and let us know how you feel, and whether or not there should be further punishment for Draymond.
