Yankees fans braced for the worst as Heliot Ramos stepped in to pinch-hit for Aaron Judge in the sixth inning.
The captain reportedly exited the series finale in Minnesota due to lower right leg tightness, according to Meredith Marakovits during the YES Network broadcast. Expect to look out for more information in the postgame, hopefully Aaron Boone will provide an update that will put fans at ease.
This game marks Judge’s seventh appearance in the lineup since recovering from a rib fracture that left
him sidelined for over three months.
Judge’s exit doesn’t necessarily mean the worst, however. The front office is likely treading lightly with Judge, they kept him in the game for only seven innings in his return debut and only eight the following night. He also launched a home run into the third deck during the Yankees’ 8-3 win on Monday night before taking the next evening off. This decision could likely mean more rest for Judge in these last few games of the regular season as the Yankees prepare for the playoffs.
