Jorge Masvidal claims “dialogue has been opened” regarding a Conor McGregor fight at UFC White House.
Just don’t call it an “ultimatum.”
Masvidal has tried to score a “Notorious” payday in the past, but UFC CEO, Dana White, insists McGregor is “too small” for the welterweight veteran. After all, it’s not fair to keep asking the former two-division champ to fight dangerous opponents “three times his size.”
Regardless, bookies have already set odds for the proposed matchup, with McGregor, 37, opening
as a slight betting favorite at -145. That’s according to the number crunchers at BetOnline.ag, who pegged the 41 year-old Masvidal as the +125 underdog.
Neither fighter has seen the win column in over six years and are a combined 1-7 dating back to late 2019.
And that doesn’t include their respective losses to Johnny Law.
The promotion is not expected to begin matchmaking for UFC White House until some point next month. It’s hard to imagine White and Co. benching 155-pound company man, Michael Chandler, because his McGregor rivalry is outdated, in favor of a welterweight fight against a “journeyman” with a “middling” UFC career.
Especially one who is “too old” and can’t sell a fight.
