Roman Reigns returns to Raw this Monday with a lot of ground to make up before SummerSlam.
Last week, with the Tribal Chief absent, his SummerSlam opponent, Seth Rollins
, delivered a Karen-worthy rant that stopped just short of asking to speak with the manager. To match his whiny delivery, Rollins recycled the same tired criticisms of Reigns that have followed the OTC for years: he only appears when the money is right, he rarely defends the title, yada, yada, yada.
The big twist, if one can call it that, was Rollins justifying years of his own bad behavior. He reasoned that betraying The Shield, joining The Authority, and cashing in Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 31 to steal the WWE Championship were all attempts to keep pace with Reigns, who he believed entered the business with a silver spoon in his mouth.
Now, it’s up to the World Heavyweight Champion to somehow elevate this feud and boost sluggish ticket sales for SummerSlam. With only three weeks left, Reigns finds himself in the unenviable position of having to carry Rollins — just as he did when they were in the Shield.
Raw takes place from Dallas’ American Airlines Center, and streams live on Netflix Monday at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.
