As more details regarding Harry Kane’s release clause are being reported, Bayern Munich is expected to hold out until February to begin talks with the striker over an extension. The club is satisfied with Kane’s form
and class, with an outlook that prioritizes Kane’s ability over his age and physique.
Per a report by Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane is due to receive a contract renewal. The English captain is under contract until the end of 2027. Should Kane choose to exit the club in the summer, a release clause in the contract makes Kane available for a price of €65 million. However, the clause is timebound. Kane is required to communicate to Bayern before the end of January, regarding his wish to leave. And Bayern are waiting for the release clause to expire before starting negotiations with the striker.
The report further states that despite turning 34 at the end of contract, the club is banking on Kane to continue playing at a very high level. This comes from the fact that Kane is a player possessing exceptional technical quality and his performance relies heavily on his acute footballing sense. His heat map in the Der Klassiker fixture against Borussia Dortmund reflects how involved Kane has grown to be in nearly every area of the pitch. A transition to a playmaker role that is physically less demanding seems totally viable as Kane ages.
