Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has discussed why Eric Garcia withdrew from the squad after missing Saturday’s win over England at Wembley.
Garcia felt some discomfort in his knee during the warm-up and ended up missing the game despite originally being in the XI.
The Barcelona star then underwent tests on his knee which led to him leaving the squad and returning to Barcelona.
De la Fuente says it’s not a serious injury but that didn’t want any problems with Barcelona.
“If it had been in a final stage,
he would have stayed,” he told a press conference.
“He wouldn’t have been available for tomorrow, but he could have been for the third game. We knew we couldn’t take that risk. We weren’t going to create a conflict. We want them to play when they’re safe.”
Barcelona are thought to be optimistic that the problem won’t cause Eric to miss any game time and he will be available to play in their next fixture against Getafe.
