According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Real Madrid will not be able to make an acquisition of Bayern Munich star Michael Olise work for this summer:
It has been another quiet week in terms of transfers, with attention focused on the first week of pre-season under Jose Mourinho.
Two names have taken centre stage in the transfer market, with reports again linking Manchester City’s Rodri and Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise to Real Madrid.
The Athletic reported on Saturday that club sources kept saying
that the Manchester City midfielder, named the best player of the 2026 World Cup, is not part of their plans.
Madrid’s stance on Olise remains unchanged, with internal sources referring to the official statement in which they denied any negotiations regarding him. Sources with close ties to Madrid say the club has made it clear that signing the France international from Bayern is not seen as feasible this summer.
It would be great if that was the end of the saga, but you know there will be more. There is always more.

Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani is reportedly trying to decide between RB Leipzig and FC Barcelona:
Asllani is one of the young forwards Barça has been tracking over the past season. He fits the profile the club is looking for, and there were contacts with his representatives early this summer to inquire about his situation and his intentions. Barça has known for some time that his release clause is 29 million euros, although this is negotiable with Hoffenheim, a club that would be willing to accept a lower fee if there is some form of compensation tied to performance targets or the loan of a player. It would not be a complicated negotiation.
Fisnik Asllani is weighing his options for the future. The Kosovar forward is certain to leave Hoffenheim this summer and hopes to become Barça’s second “No. 9” during this summer’s transfer window if Ferran Torres ultimately leaves for PSG. Asllani has received many offers following his breakout season in the Bundesliga and has put several options on hold while waiting for the Blaugrana club to take a definitive step toward signing him. The goal-scorer has already made up his mind, and all signs point to him considering only two scenarios: either staying in the Bundesliga and signing with Leipzig, or joining Barça—a club for which he has publicly expressed his admiration and toward which he has dropped several hints since the end of the season.
Asllani should choose wisely. The next logical step would be a club like RB Leipzig. It feels like Asllani would get swept under the rug at FC Barcelona, even with Hansi Flick at the helm. FC Barcelona needs someone more established than Asllani if Torres.
