The Detroit Lions still have a lot of love for former defensive coordinator and current Jets head coach Aaron Glenn. So when Jahmyr Gibbs scampered in the end zone for his second touchdown of the day—and electric 17-yard run—he wanted to honor the former Lions coach.
After reversing field and finding paydirt, Gibbs mimicked Glenn’s iconic sideline celebration from the 2025 season. If you don’t remember what that celebration initially looked like, here’s Glenn after the Jets returned a field goal block
for a touchdown late in the game.
And now here’s Gibbs’ celebration from Sunday, lined up side-by-side with Glenn’s sideline routine.
“When I saw it last year, it took me a little bit (to learn it),” Gibbs said. “I don’t know why it took me so long.”
Gibbs is off to a fantastic start to his 2026 season. In three games, Gibbs has 307 yards rushing (4.7 YPC), four rushing touchdowns, and another 158 yards receiving, along with two more touchdowns through the air.
Through it all, Gibbs maintains his cheery attitude and keeps the game fun, like with this celebration—and he even clicked his heels when strutting into the end zone against the Jets.
“I always have fun,” Gibbs said. “Every time I’m out there I treat it just like a game. I don’t take it too serious. I know we’ve got jobs to do, but I’ve been playing for a long time and it’s pretty natural for me. So I just keep it fun.”
