There’s a new wave of Kansas City Chiefs players to learn about and root for in the future from the 2026 NFL Draft class. The seven drafted players have all been assigned their jersey numbers, the team revealed on Thursday.
First-round, sixth-overall pick Mansoor Delane revealed he will wear No. 5 after the draft, and now the rest of the draft class has a number assigned to them.
Defensive tackle Peter Woods will wear No. 99, looking to make
a bigger splash than last year’s No. 99 on the defensive line, Jerry Tillery. The most memorable No. 99s in Kansas City’s modern history were defensive tackles Khalen Saunders and Rakeen Nunez-Roches; before that, Mike Bell — uncle of former Chiefs tight end Blake Bell — was the most significant No. 99 in franchise history.
Defensive end R Mason Thomas will throw a shakeup in the pass-rush jersey number combination that Kansas City hasn’t seen since Melvin Ingram came off the edge wearing No. 24. Fans will hope he lives up to anywhere near the career of the last significant Chiefs defender to wear No. 34: cornerback Dale Carter.
Defensive back Jadon Canady will take over the No. 22 that current Los Angeles Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie rocked in Kansas City for the last three seasons. Before that, other playmakers in the secondary like Juan Thornhill and Marcus Peters donned it.
Running back Emmett Johnson takes over the No. 10 jersey, which has been featured in the Chiefs’ offense since wide receiver Tyreek Hill was drafted in 2016, and then Isiah Pacheco adopted it when he was drafted in 2022. Before the playmakers took over the uniform, quarterbacks Trent Green and Mike Livingston were the most significant No. 10s.
Wide receiver Cyrus Allen could be the next underrated Chiefs playmaker to wear No. 13 after wide receivers Byron Pringle and De’Anthony Thomas had stretches of wearing it in recent history. Former Chiefs quarterback Steve Bono is still the most notable No. 13 in team history.
Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will don No. 14 — at least for now. Punter Matt Araiza has worn it for the last two seasons, and it was also assigned to quarterback Jake Haener, according to Pro Football Reference. After legendary Chiefs running back Ed Podolak wore it in the 1970s, the best No. 14 has been wide receiver Sammy Watkins.
