Colts playoff picture: Where Indianapolis stands after Week 15

The Indianapolis Colts nearly sprung an upset of the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15, but even with the loss, they still have a shot at a playoff berth. Indy has shot at both the AFC South title and a wild

card berth, but they’ll need some help after Week 15’s results.

The schedule does not get any easier for the Colts moving forward. They host the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football next week, host the Jacksonville Jaguars the following Sunday, and close out the season on the road against the Texans.

AFC South standings

The Jaguars and Texans handled their business on Sunday. The Jaguars easily beat the Jets 48-20, while the Texans rolled to a 40-20 victory over the Cardinals. They leaves the Jaguars two games up on the Colts and the Texans a game up.

If the Colts can get something from Philip Rivers and get big performances from Jonathan Taylor, they have an opportunity to win out. Notably, they face a 49ers squad next week that has been struggling against the run. A win over San Francisco would be a solid momentum boost.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars travel to face the Broncos and the Texans host the Raiders. Jacksonville has opened as a field goal underdog while Houston opened as a 14.5-point favorite.

AFC playoff standings

The Colts sit on the outside looking in at the wild card picture in eighth place. The Ravens sit a game back of the Colts and the Dolphins are a game and a half back heading into Monday Night Football against the Steelers.
