One of my favorite things that Kentucky Football has done is theLift Them Up program. If you have never heard of it, each home game week, a child from the Golisano’s Children’s Hospital in Lexington is announced and given a cool moment at Kroger Field.
They usually walk with the team along the Cat Walk and are announced and honored during the game, too. And that tradition continues this week with Oliver.
Oliver is a 7-year-old kid who has dealt with a lot in his life. He was struck by a car and ended
up with a traumatic brain injury that required him to be sedated and on a ventilator. Not only did he pull through, but he is thriving. According to the announcement, Oliver loves hot dogs, spaghetti, and the color blue. He also loves getting “puff” (lifting weights to get buff).
Kentucky has been doing this since 2018 when Mark Stoops was in charge, and the tradition will continue under Will Stein.
So, if you plan on being at Kroger Field on Saturday, make sure to scream extra loud for a little boy who is beating the odds.
