The LA Rams and New York Giants released their final injury reports ahead of their Monday night game and star receiver Puka Nacua is a game-time decision. But Adam Schefter hinted at bad news, reporting on Sunday that Nacua is trending the “wrong way” right now.
LA Rams injuries
The Rams have already scratched Kamren Kinchens from the contest with a hamstring injury
, while Nacua and Jordan Whittington will be game-time decisions. DPOY, Myles Garrett, was placed on IR on Thursday.Nacua and Whittington both appeared
on the injury report for the first time on Thursday, and while Nacua is listed as questionable, he is more likely to play than Whittington, who is listed as doubtful.
Said McVay regarding Nacua:
“He’s got a little bit of soreness in that groin, being smart with him as a skill player,” McVay said. “Whether or not he plays is to be determined, and so we’ll see how he’s feeling.”
While the Rams would obviously miss the two-time Pro Bowler, in the one game he missed last season, they posted their best offensive performance of the season against Jacksonville.
Whittington is also a real contributor, albeit in a quieter fashion. He is the team’s main kick returner, best gunner on punts, and WR3. He was on the field for 41% of the Rams’ offensive snaps last week against the 49ers and caught the only pass thrown his way.
Kamren Kinchens had 52 snaps against San Francisco last week, but most of them came after Kam Curl was removed from the game. Curl is listed as a full participant on Monday and, barring a relapse of his ankle injury, should make up for most of those snaps. Kinchens was responsible for two touchdown catches last week. Tanner Ingle has been elevated to the roster to fill in for Kinchens.
New York Giants injuries
Heading into their game against the Cowboys last week, the Giants had three corners listed on IR: Korie Black, Jarrick Bernard-Converse, and Rico Payton. Early in that Cowboys game, Paulson Adebo suffered an injury and has also been added to the IR.
Now, to make matters worse, Deonte Banks has been added to this week’s injury report and is questionable for Monday. He was limited in practice Thursday and did not practice Friday or Saturday, and he is trending toward being scratched from Monday’s game.
The Giants added two cornerbacks this week for depth. Nikko Reed was signed off the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad to New York’s 53-man roster. Jaden Robinson, formerly with the Denver Broncos, was added to the practice squad. Robinson could be a game day elevation for the Giants on Monday night.
The Giants’ starting cornerbacks are likely to be Greg Newsome and rookie second-round pick Colton Hood.
