Despite the stigma around Bayern Munich being the villain of the Bundesliga, the club has shown that they can be nice if they wanted to. For example, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen suggested overturning the ban imposed on Elversberg coach Vincent Wagner ahead of the match with Bayern.
“It would certainly be possible not to impose any bans for the next match if everyone sees it that way,” Dreesen said in an interview with Sport 1 (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). According to the Bundesliga’s
match report for Elversberg’s 4-3 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach, Wagner was sent off for two bookable offences.
Elversberg is the surprise package of the season so far, beating Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach to sit in the European places; Bayern sit lower than the newly promoted side after dropping points to Schalke. Unfortunately for Dreesen and everyone else, the appeal of Wagner’s ban has been rejected (via @iMiaSanMia):
