According to a report from Sport, AC Milan could be planning to make a move for former Bayern Munich star and current FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski:
AC Milan has begun to inquire about Robert
Lewandowski’s situation and has already positioned itself for the Polish striker’s future, whose contract expires at the end of this season and could end his successful run with the Blaugrana team. The Italian club’s sporting director, Igle Tare, has met with the striker’s agent, Pini Zahavi, in recent days to discuss various transfer market issues and asked directly about Lewandowski and his future intentions, according to journalist Luca Cohen. Milan would like to get ahead of the market by making clear their interest in a striker who, at 37, is still highly sought after.
Lewandowski signed a three-year contract with Barça, with an option for a fourth year, and is in the final year of his contract, waiting to make a decision about his future. The Polish striker is convinced that he can continue at the highest level in European football, at least for the next season, although he is open to all scenarios. In any case, the Pole is very happy at Barça and in Barcelona and is not ruling out staying for another year if his performance this season continues as it has so far, and Barça are in agreement to extend his contract so that he can continue to be an important player in the Blaugrana project.
For now, Lewandowski has overcome his muscle problems from the start of the season and has begun to perform at his usual level, scoring goals in every game. Hansi Flick could give him more rest this season, but no one doubts that he will be a decisive player for Barça between now and June. The striker is also willing to return to the Polish national team after his controversies with the former coach and is in good physical shape to combine club and national team competitions. There are still months left on his contract, but there are already powerful teams making it clear that they are interested in him.
Lewandowski is a name to watch for fans at many clubs.
While recent statements indicate that Harry Kane wants to stay with Bayern Munich, there is still the possibility that he leaves next summer. Should that happen, a domino of moves could happen affecting several strikers.
If Bayern Munich was in a position to need a striker for a one-year bridge position, the Polish Hitman could be an option. Otherwise, it seems like Lewandowski wants to delay any plans to move to MLS for at least one more year. Certainly, there will be a team in Europe that can use his services.
Bayern Munich coasted into this international break with a 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and immediately (and rightfully) hit Oktoberfest before the squad breaks up for a week-and-a-half for another international break.
It feels like a good time to appreciate these good times and examine why it all has come together under Vincent Kompany so far this season. This is what we have on tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
- Winning — and some personnel moves — have cured all at Bayern Munich. The winning formula is more complicated than that, but let’s explore why things are going so well and how to keep them moving in that direction.
- Some Bayern players need a break. It is a new world for several player and a tough adjustment, but it could be the difference between winning the Champions League and flaming out early.
- What’s wrong with Florian Wirtz? The former Bayern Munich transfer target got benched at Liverpool, proving again that fit is sometime more important than finances in a footballer’s career.
