Joan Laporta has admitted he’s delighted to see Gavi back in action for Barcelona after returning to training following knee surgery.
Gavi is closing in on a long-awaited comeback after another lengthy spell on the sidelines and Laporta has paid tribute to the tenacious midfielder.
“It is great news that we all expected. The club and all the culés wanted Gavi to return. I have experienced his recovery first-hand. He has gone through difficult times after his relapse, but now everything is over and he has to look
forward,” he said.
“He has suffered and cried, but this is now part of the past. He’s a player with a lot of character and he was permanently tense and angry because he wanted to play. He would have done it even with crutches.
“We are very satisfied that he can play again in a short time. We have a treasure in the dressing room, it’s a great group of people and when someone is seriously injured it’s a very hard moment.
“Gavi has been helped by the physios, the doctors, the coach, his family environment… All together we have tried to make his recovery as good as possible.”
It’s thought that Barcelona are likely to give it another 2-3 weeks of training before Gavi finally gets the green light to return to action with Flick’s side.
