Villarreal striker Georges Mikautadze says he’s ready to move to a big club and has made it clear just how much he admires Barcelona.
Mikautadze was one of many names linked with a move to Barcelona during the summer window as the Catalans went on the hunt for a new striker.
Barcelona eventually ended up signing Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal to play back-up to Raphinha following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Mikautadze has now been asked about the speculation and talked up the possibility
of a move to Camp Nou.
“It is flattering and it motivates me even more. It also means that the work is done well. On top of that, since the Xavi-Iniesta-Busquets and the MSN, I have been a Barca fan […] but I didn’t think too much about that. I was focused on my pre-season,” he told L’Equipe.
“My dream to play for a big club? I started playing football for that reason. I want to have a taste of going even higher. I am 26, but I think that I am ready to go to a big club. I have everything to do it and I try to show it every time. I maybe just need a bit more time.”
Mikautadze has scored five goals in 15 appearances for Villarreal this season, while Barca’s transfer focus appears to have switched from the attack to the defence.
