With both sides picking a strong starting lineup to face each other, we could only expect a slugfest to take place at Kai Tak Sports Park in this meeting between Chelsea and Juventus. In this regard neither side disappointed onlookers.
The Blues and the Old Lady were fairly matched throughout the first half, although it was only Robert Sánchez who had to put some goalkeeping work on display. In the second half there were finally a couple of good goalscoring chances via young Marco Palestra, forcing
Mattia Perin to intervene.
As the game went on both sides began taking more risks. Juventus themselves who had been very conservative in their approach were more willing to push forward and close spaces down in our half, leading to some nervy moments for our defence.
There was however nothing our defence could do against Edon Zhegrova and his superb effort to get Juve ahead in the scoreline, with a wonderful long range shot.
As more subs came in things became more disjointed. Neither had the quality to bang in another goal before the final whistle.
