Welcome to the Morning Commute
Today we’re talking about Mark Mitchell
Yeah, the football season starts on Thursday night, but Monday brought us some good hoops news.
As he seeks a fifth year of eligibility, Mark Mitchell is returning to Missouri after backing off his previous commitment to Kentucky. How about that, huh?
So, if Mitchell is eligible to play this season (and it’s still not a guarantee) that certainly raises the ceiling for Mizzou Hoops this year.
ESPN’s Jeff Borzello was already high on Mizzou
prior to the addition of Mitchell.
CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish moves Mizzou up six spots to No. 21 in the latest Top 25 and 1.
There’s also this:
A fun day to be a Mizzou fan, for sure. Time to celebrate (for now).

- 2026 Mizzou Football Preview from Jaden Lewis: Meet Your Specialist
We know he has the leg, he made a 55-yarder in the season opener against Central Arkansas, and having that asset makes things easier once crossing the 50, hopefully he puts I all together this year.
Blake Craig leads Mizzou’s special teams unit this season — who are looking for a major improvement from last year.
- First Serve from Aaron Segal: Mizzou’s Perfect Start Sets the Stage for a Major Test Against #25 Oregon
A top-25 Oregon team is coming to Hearnes Center, giving Missouri an opportunity to turn a strong opening weekend into something much bigger. For head coach Dawn Sullivan, though, the message remains the same: trust the process.
Mizzou Volleyball is off to a perfect 3-0 start without losing a set, and tonight’s match vs Oregon should be a lot of fun. It will be a good test for Dawn Sullivan’s group.
- From Sam Snelling: Missouri vs Arkansas Pine-Bluff football Game Week: info, where to watch, predictions
2005 was the last time (non-COVID year) Mizzou didn’t play an FCS school. It rarely goes well for the FCS school, as you can see. Even in the Tigers worst years they’re still much better than whatever FCS school shows up.
Mizzou has never lost against an FCS team in their program history. Let’s continue that on Thursday night.
- Tiger Top Spin from Aaron Segal: Before the Matches Matter, Robin Goodman Is Building the Foundation
While talking with Goodman this week, Goodman said Missouri has the resources, facilities and people necessary to compete at the highest level. His vision is to turn those advantages into a program that is competitive nationally, relevant in the SEC and recognizable because of the way its players compete.
The Mizzou Tennis program is looking to thrive under head coach Robin Goodman. The future is bright.
- SBN Reacts from me: What is Your Record Prediction for Mizzou Football?
Missouri has consistently beaten the teams they’re supposed to but is still looking for that true, statement win in the Drinkwitz era. What will this season bring?
I think the Tigers go 8-4 this season. Drinkwitz and the boys get one big upset at home.
