Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being
churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.
Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.
Rumors for the Day:
- Post Wrestling’s report on the WWE shareholder lawsuit included a Feb. 2023 text from Vince McMahon to Bruce Prichard asking if “Roman and Cody know the new creative re WM and next year?”, seemingly indicating that McMahon wasn’t solely focusing on the sale of the company as it was said he would be when he returned a month earlier.
- Discussing that on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that while it was Vince’s call ultimately, it was Roman Reigns who pitched the idea that he beat Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 39 and then lose to him the following year. With Paul Heyman’s help, Reigns made a “very persuasive” argument that ultimately proved correct. “But,” Meltzer said, “Vince made the call and [Paul ”Triple H”] Levesque was on board with the call but Vince was the one who made the call.“
- During his lengthy interview with with Case Lowe, Tony Khan praised AEW’s partners CMLL and talked wanting to run more shows in Mexico. He also promised “Grand Slam Mexico will be back in 2026”.
- Elsewhere in the same interview, Khan dismissed rumors he blocked WWE’s Shinsuke Nakamura from being Hiroshi Tanahashi’s final opponent this weekend: “A lot of that never happened and a lot of it was like, how would you know what that guy was thinking… I thought that was an interesting story, I’ll put it that way.”
- Michin posted on Instagram that she was leaving the WWE Holiday Tour early, and Fightful Select says that’s due to a shoulder injury she suffered on the tour. No word on the severity, or Michin’s status for her scheduled match with Jade Cargill on Friday’s SmackDown.
- Fightful also reported that Luchasaurus has a legit shoulder injury. The beatdown on last night’s Dynamite was a storyline write-off while he addresses the injury.
