The Golden State Warriors moved to 4-1 on the season Tuesday night with one of their most impressive wins of the young season: a 98-79 victory over the LA Clippers, a performance made all the more remarkable given that the Dubs (but not the Clippers) were on the back end of a back-to-back.
Understandably, fans are feeling pretty excited about the team. Here’s what they had to say Tuesday night, as seen through the live reactions in the Golden State of Mind game thread.
First quarter: ‘Post dominating both sides’
The game didn’t have the same
streaming struggles as in the season opener, but fans were still upset with the 8:00 p.m. PT tip time for the NBA on NBC game. But it didn’t seem to upset the Warriors, who jumped out to an early 27-12 lead. Quinten Post, inserted into the starting lineup, played fantastically, and though the Warriors faltered in the final minutes with a cold offense, they still led 33-25.
Second quarter: ‘Podz having a good game’
Brandin Podziemski, who struggled in the first three games but bounced back on Monday, made it clear that Tuesday was more brilliance, and had some fantastic plays in the quarter. But the offense fell apart quickly, and the Clippers roared back into it, turning a double-digit deficit into a lead. The Dubs scored just 13 points in the quarter, and trailed 49-46 at the break.
Third quarter: ‘Exactly what we needed’
The third quarter Warriors arrived once more. Everything clicked for the Dubs in the third, with Steph Curry leading the charge and everyone catching fire. They led 78-63 entering the final frame.
Fourth quarter: ‘It’s like the Clippers were on the B2B’
The Warriors should have been the more tired team, but they sure didn’t play like it. Their defense was swarming to open the quarter, and they pushed the lead up to 20 around the midway mark of the quarter. From there, it was just a matter of coasting to victory.
