In a frustrating draw, Bayern Munich could not get the best out of a relegation side that is desperately fighting for their lives. Heidenheim simply wanted it more and the performances showed that. Despite the result, Bayern will head into the Champions League semi finals with all the reason to be optimistic.
Leon Goretzka leaves on a good note
The veteran midfielder has had an absolute rollercoaster of an experience in Munich. Love him or hate him, he has always given his best for the club. Today he was massively important for Bayern
and this will likely be one of the last times we see him on the pitch for the club. Thank you for everything Leon.
Bara Sapoko Ndiaye is not first team quality…yet
In a match against the bottom team in the league, it was the perfect time to rotate. Vincent Kompany had all the reason to give some guys their shot and he took that opportunity by starting Ndiaye. Unfortunately, he didn’t put his best foot forward and didn’t make a great impression. Getting a start was a big opportunity but it certainly won’t be the last.
There is a big drop off in quality on the bench
Looking at this squad today is a massive drop in quality compared to the true XI. No disrespect to these players, but they are simply not on the same level as Bayern’s first choice players. Let’s hope the club acquires some depth pieces for next season.
