Ronda Rousey is proud of her upcoming Gina Carano fight on May 16.
In addition, “Rowdy” is now celebrating the recent signing of Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins, locked and loaded for the Netflix-streamed fight card at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Rousey credits the promotion’s fan-first strategy to matchmaking, which may put MVP above the recent efforts of UFC and its sleazy shareholders.
“Ngannou vs. Lins joins Rousey vs. Carano on Netflix on May 16,” Rousey wrote on X. “How’s THAT for a BAMF-laden
double headliner? That’s what happens when you put fighters and fans ahead of shareholders. P.S. UFC’s White House card sucks.”
Rousey originally offered the Carano fight to her “good friend” and UFC CEO Dana White; however, the promotion could not meet “Rowdy’s” asking price because it no longer has pay-per-view (PPV) points to bargain with. That sent the Olympian to Jake Paul and MVP for her “Conviction” showdown.
As for UFC, it recently unveiled its UFC White House fight card for June 14, titled “Freedom 250.” Sadly, the finished product was a considerable letdown in terms of star power. To be fair, I don’t think anyone was pining for Ngannou vs. Lins after “The Predator” was released by PFL late last week.
On top of that, Rousey hasn’t fought in nearly a decade and Carano has been on the shelf since 2009.
