Good morning, Canes.
Let’s start the day the right way.
Miami blows out Stanford 42-7
Miami exorcised some of the demons from last week’s loss with a resounding 42-7 blowout of Stanford. This game had a bit of a slow start, but once
things got rolling, Stanford was no match for Miami in any area of the game.

Miami is now 6-1 (2-1 in ACC) on the year after a blowout that looked like a blowout on the scoreboard, finally. Stanford found a way to beat FSU last week, and though it took a while to get things going, Miami easily dispatched them with a 5 touchdown win.
The Canes look to keep things rolling with a trip to SMU next week. This is SMU’s homecoming game, so expect a lot of emotion from the opposition. And SMU coach Rhett Lashlee is known for dialing up offense, so this will be a test for Corey Hetherman and Miami’s defense.
Playoffs continue next week. Gotta win ‘em all.
Tentative game time, maybe?
Checking the ACC website after I got home from the game, I came across a listing for when Miami-SMU (previously placed on a 6-day hold pending the outcome of Week 9 games) would be shown and played. So when/where?
Seeing as I pulled this from the official ACC website, it feels like this will be the final placement for Miami-SMU. Expect an official announcement later today, but I can’t think this would have gone up for public consumption without it being true.
So, Mario Cristobal gets his wish with a Nooner. Which is actually an 11AM’er Central Time. And it’s on the road. AND it’s on SMU’s homecoming. But hey…this is what he wanted!
Miami open as double digit road favorites over SMU
Unsurprisingly, Miami continued their run of being favorites over every opponent after the opener this season.
Yes, Miami needs to win the game, but it’s another substantial line in Miami’s favor. Just sharing.
Rooting against other teams could be going better…
Final: #7 Georgia Tech 41, Syracuse 16 — Georgia Tech continues to win big, and Syracuse continues to scuffle after losing their starting QB to injury several weeks ago. I’m still rooting for GT to lose every week, though the chances for that are dwindling; they only have 3 more ACC games this season! At the same time, I’m delighting in Syracuse’s struggles and can’t WAIT to get our pound of flesh from them in a few weeks. #Payback
Final: #16 Virginia 17, North Carolina 16 (OT) — Crazy though it might seem, Carolina was in this game the whole way, and even looked like they might win outright in regulation. They’re not good though, so Virginia was able to escape when Carolina went for 2 after a touchdown in overtime and were stopped short.
Final: #19 Louisville 38, Boston College 24 — I know this is a decent win on the scoreboard, but Boston College had Louisville STRESSED this whole game. But, nursing a 31-24 lead, Louisville creased BC for a 67 yard TD run with just under 2 minutes left to push the game firmly into their corner. Damnit.
As a reminder, Miami needs 2 of Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Virginia to lose — along with Miami winning every remaining game — to make the ACC Championship game in Charlotte.
Final: Wake Forest 13, SMU 12 — I alluded to this earlier, but SMU lost on a last second FG at Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons have been close to pulling off an upset several times this year, and finally got it done here. SMU’s loss here likely factored into next week’s Miami-SMU game being placed at Noon Eastern/11am Central as opposed to a later slot.
