Lio Rush had victory in his grasp to retain the ROH World Television Championship at Death Before Dishonor (full results), then Hook screwed him out of the precious.
Rush defended the title against Action Andretti in a Fight Without Honor. Rush came for the occasion wearing a barbed wire umbrella hat. He also wore gear to honor the late Sabu and mimicked some of the legend’s mannerisms.
The match had plenty of weapons, a little blood, and a handful of wackiness.
Rush emptied a sack of black glass to cut Andretti.
When it looked like Rush was on his way to victory via submission, the lights went out. Lights on, and Hook was in the ring on the side of Andretti. The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil took Rush for a ride on a suplex. For those that follow ROH on the regular, this comes as no surprise. Andretti has been teaming with The Opps lately. That’s not to say he is a full member yet.
Rush is a crafty one. He managed to regain control of the action. When Rush reached to open his mysterious box, Anthony Bowens ran in to help with Opps’ business. Bowens grabbed the box, and Hook grabbed Rush to choke with Redrum.
The Opps helped set Rush onto the table with shards of black glass. Andretti landed a springboard 450 splash.
Oh, you think that’s the end? Rush kicked out at 1 on the cover. The finish came a short while later when Rush collided into a chair in the corner. Andretti attacked with urgency for the Lights, Camera, Action finisher on Rush to win the TV title.
So, what’s in the box? What’s in the box?!?! After Andretti and The Opps parted from the ring, Rush opened the case to reveal a black heart. He drank blood from the heart, and the liquid oozed from his mouth.
