A walkoff win on Friday night secured the Brewers’ 81st win of the season. Tonight, they’ll go for their 82nd win and secure a winning season for the fifth straight year.
Freddy Peralta is back on the mound for tonight’s game. He’s coming off back-to-back starts where he posted six scoreless innings, and he has allowed one or fewer runs in six of his last eight starts. Today’s start is Peralta’s second against the Giants this season. His previous start came on April 23rd, and he allowed three runs in five
innings. This is Peralta’s fifth start and sixth appearance against the Giants. He has a career 3.86 ERA over 16 1/3 innings.
Meanwhile, Logan Webb starts for the Giants. This is the second time this season that Peralta and Webb are matching up in a game. Webb was the better pitcher the first time around, throwing 6 1/3 scoreless innings as the Giants took that game. He is also coming off one of his best starts of the season, pitching seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against the Rays. Over his career, Webb has been tough against the Brewers. He has a 2.17 ERA covering 37 1/3 innings over six starts.
The bullpen is in good shape for tonight. Trevor Megill is fine after taking a ball off his calf in last night’s game. However, he’s pitched in two straight games, which could make him unavailable. Aaron Ashby and Shelby Miller also appeared in last night’s game. Ashby may not be available after pitching multiple innings, and Miller has appeared in three of the previous four games. Everyone else has at least one day of rest.
Brice Turang is not in the lineup tonight after he was hit by a pitch on the wrist last night. He took batting practice to assess if he could play, but was not in the starting lineup for today. Sal Frelick will lead off with Isaac Collins backing him up. William Contreras and Christian Yelich are back-to-back in the lineup, as usual. However, Jake Bauers will start at first and bat fifth as Andrew Vaughn gets a day off. With Turang out, Caleb Durbin shifts over to second, and Anthony Seigler will man third. Blake Perkins is in center field, and Andruw Monasterio is batting ninth and playing shortstop.
First pitch is set for 6:10 p.m. CT. It will be on FanDuel Sports Wisconsin and the Brewers Radio Network, and is also available out-of-market for free on MLB.TV.
