Rumors for the Day:
- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says WWE had Asuka vs. IYO SKY listed as a match at WrestleMania 42 one week ago, but now it is “up in the air.” There is apparently an idea being discussed to save the match for Backlash on May 9.
- PW Insider claims that WWE originally scheduled Pat McAfee’s promo to be the final segment on last night’s episode of SmackDown, with the Jade Cargill vs. IYO SKY match taking place in hour one.
- Per WON, many people in WWE are “not happy” about Pat McAfee being added to the main event angle of WrestleMania 42. One person said it is “the most counterproductive thing” WWE has done in a long time.
- The Observer mentioned that NXT stars Ethan Page, Blake Monroe, Jacy Jayne, and Ricky Saints have “all been heavily discussed” for main roster call-ups after WrestleMania. Sol Ruca was also said to have “made a very favorable impression” on WWE’s decision-makers.
- According to WrestleVotes, WWE has already scrapped the new theme song that The Usos used for their match on the March 30 episode of Raw at Madison Square Garden. The decision was made after the live fans at MSG clearly weren’t into the music.
- The current odds at BetOnline indicate that Will Ospreay, MJF, Adam Copeland & Christian Cage, Marina Shafir, Chris Jericho, and Darby Allin are favored to win their respective matches this weekend at the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view.
- Sources told Bodyslam.net that the construction of WWE’s set for WrestleMania 42 at Allegiant Stadium will begin on Monday, Apr. 13, following Bruno Mars concerts in that same venue over the weekend.
- F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer notes that Lance Archer’s AEW contract is set to expire in July.
