The Pittsburgh Steelers were as active as any team in the first wave of free agency.
They made splash signings like Jamel Dean, Rico Dowdle, and Jaquan Brisker, while also trading for Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. to finally sure up their WR2 position. Other signings for the Steelers include punter Cameron Johnston, safety Darnell Savage, and defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day.
Internally, the Steelers brought back multiple contributors, most notably cornerback Asante Samuel
Jr. and linebacker Cole Holcomb. Pittsburgh also brought back defensive lineman Esezi Otomewo and offensive lineman Jack Driscoll.
After all of those moves, the Steelers still have roughly $27 million in cap space, per Spotrac. This ranks 16th in the NFL. The Tennessee Titans lead the league in available cap space with $79.5 million.
The Steelers need to keep a chunk of that cap available for their upcoming draft class, but still need to add another quarterback to their roster – many of which expect that to be Aaron Rodgers.
