Anthony Hernandez had his eight-fight win streak snapped by current Middleweight champion, Sean Strickland, in his last outing six months ago (recap here). Now, “Fluffy” — who is still ranked in the Top 10 — will attempt to start a new streak in Sacramento. Hernandez was seemingly one more big win away from getting seriously considered for a title shot, so that loss had to sting a bit more than usual. That said, he has to put that all behind him because he has a serious task ahead of him in Rodrigues. Hernandez has had great wins against big players such as Brendan Allen, Michel Pereira and Roman Dolidze, so he has more than proven he has the skills to pay the bills. If he wants to avoid dropping out of the Top 10 a second straight defeat is out of the question.
As for Rodrigues, theNo. 10-ranked fighter in the division is currently on a three-fight win streak and has won six of his last seven fights, with his loss during that run coming against Jared Cannonier. “Robocop” has been a knockout machine since first stepping foot inside the Octagon back in 2021, racking up seven knockouts in 10 wins. In his most recent outing, Rodrigues eliminated Brunno Ferreira with a one-punch knockout in the very first round (see it here), the man who knocked him out three years prior. Because of the power, Hernandez has to be on his toes and getting into a fire-fight against “Robocop” is not the best plan for Hernandez if he wants to prove victorious. The winner of this fight will get a huge boost for his career and could potentially crack the Top 5. I don’t expect this bout to go more than couple of rounds, so don’t blink.
Original Card Vs. Actual Card/Injuries:
A Featherweight fight between Danny Silva and Marcio Barbosa was scheduled for the event before Silva withdrew after being hospitalized. Barbosa will now face UFC newcomer Ryan Kuse instead. Also, a Lightweight bout between Kody Steele and Gauge Young was scheduled for this event before Steele withdrew from the fight for unknown reasons and replaced by UFC newcomer Stanley Dorsainvil.
New Blood:
Ryan Kuse brings a 10-2 record with him as he is set to make his UFC debut. He is currently on a two-fight win streak, but he hasn’t been able to lock down a MMA organization he can call home for the last few years. Indeed, his last seven fights have taken place with seven different promotions, so he is hoping he can make UFC a place he can hang his hat for a while. Standing in his way is Marcio Barbosa, who is fresh of a knockout win in his own UFC debut against Dennis Buzukja (see it here).
Two UFC rookies will face off against one another as Anthony Wint and Terrance Chatman throw down in a Heavyweight fight on the main card. Wint earned his way into the Octagon thanks to a 34-second knockout win on the Contender Series, improving his record to 7-0. As for Chatman, he made his MMA debut in Feb. 2025 so he is fairly new to the game. He has racked up a record of 5-1 in that time with four knockouts.
Stan Dorsainvil made his MMA debut back in 2023 but has only competed a total of five times since then. Nevertheless, his body of work is enough to get him a shot in the big leagues as he will face off against Gauge Young, who stumbled out of the gates in his debut after losing to Evan Elder. He has since rebounded nicely with two straight wins.
How The ‘Prelims’ Look:
Elise Reed has been the model for being inconsistently consistent throughout her UFC career. Since stepping foot inside the Octagon for the first time back in 2021, she has alternated wins and losses to the tune of securing a a 4-5 record. She is coming off a loss to Denis Gomes, so history tells us she is due for a win. Shanelle Dyer, who is coming off a knockout win over Ravena Oliveira, is looking to break that pattern by handing Reed her second straight defeat.
Winner of six straight, Lerryan Douglas is on the hunt for his second win inside the Octagon after making a successful UFC debut by knocking out Julian Erosa in the very first round earlier this year (highlights here). Against Jamall Emmers, he will find some stiff competition because he is looking to lock down his first three-fight win streak in six years.
Chris Padilla is unbeaten in his last eight fights, though he fought to a draw in his most recent outing against MarQuel Mederos three months ago. Nevertheless, the last time he tasted defeat was four years ago, so he intends to keep his hot streak going against Nasrat Haqparast, who had his five-fight win streak snapped rather violently at the hands of Quillan Salkilld.
It took Wes Schultz two appearances on the Contender Series to finally earn his way into the UFC, though he ultimately came up short in his debut against Damian Pinas. He eventually locked down his first win by defeating Ben Johnston via submission. Now he will face Jackson McVey, who managed to hold on to his spot on the UFC roster by locking down his first win inside the Octagon after three tries by defeating Sedrique Dumas via first-round submission in his last bout.
Shamil Gaziev has lost his last two fights via knockout, so he can not afford a third straight loss when he goes up against Kennedy Nzechukwu, who last fought to a draw against Marcus Almeida. Gaziev is just 3-3 inside the Octagon, so another loss could be his one-way ticket out of the promotion. On the bright side he does fight in the Heavyweight division, so he has a better chance to hold on to his spot even in defeat.
Who Needs A Win Badly:
Reinier de Ridder started off his UFC career with four straight wins — including halting the Bo Nickal hype train before defeating Robert Whittaker — but he has since gone on a slump. Indeed, “The Dutch Knight” has lost his last two fights against Brendan Allen and Caio Borralho, so he is in desperate need of a win when he goes up against Roman Dolidze, who is also in need of a big win after losing his last two fights against Anthony Hernandez and Christian Leroy Duncan.
Interest Level: 6/10:
In the co-main event, Serghei Spivac and Vitor Petrino will throw down to see who can improve his position in the division. Spivac snapped his two-fight skid by locking down a big win over Ante Delija via unanimous decision bringing him to just 2-3 in his last five outings. The Russian big man is currently ranked No. 9 in the division and a big win here gets him closer to the Top 5. As for Petrino – No. 11 — he is riding high on confidence with three straight wins, and one more gets him in the Top 10. This one shouldn’t last long, but it should be fun for as long as it does.
Since getting cut by UFC back in 2022, Mason Jones has really found his groove, winning his last seven fights, which includes going 3-0 in his last three bouts inside the Octagon. But while the surging Lightweight is on a roll, so is MarQuel Mederos, who is unbeaten in his last 10 fights. He did fight to a draw against Chris Padilla in his last bout, but he hasn’t tasted defeat since 2022, the lone loss of his career.
Carli Judice had an interesting run to get into the promotion. After coming up short on the Contender Series, she was still awarded a contract. In her debut, she came up short against Gabriella Fernandes, both loses via split-decision. Since then, “Crispy” has been on a nice run by winning her last three fights. She will face off against an even hotter fighter in Jeisla Chavez, who is scorching at the moment with an undefeated record of 8-0, which includes winning her debut fight against Yuneisy Duben just two months ago.
Enjoy the fights!
