Rumors rumors everywhere, especially for the Cleveland Browns, but not a trade insight. At least, not a new trade after DT Dexter Lawrence was moved to the Cincinnati Bengals for a surprising (even to the New York Giants) 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft. We are finally in draft week, and it seems unlikely another big trade would be made anytime soon.
WR AJ Brown is the biggest name expected to be moved this offseason, but his contract, like Browns DE Myles Garrett’s, requires a trade after
June 1st. Instead, trade rumors swirl this time of year as teams prepare to make moves when the draft is actually going on. Before Cleveland traded down with the Jacksonville Jaguars last year, they wanted to make sure QB Cam Ward would not be available first.
This year, according to Adam Schefter, the third pick is the first one expected to be available in a deal, potentially.
The Arizona Cardinals (#3) and the Cleveland Browns (#6) are noted as two teams that might be looking to trade down, with a note that the Browns have already received calls:
One year later, the Browns are already taking calls about the No. 6 pick, and sources said they’re open to moving it. Another move back would give the Browns more capital in a draft in which they are already scheduled to have nine picks, including Nos. 6 and 24 in the first round.
Schefter noted that the Dallas Cowboys have been noted by some executives as a trade-up team, with the ESPN Insider noting that if Arvell Reese or David Bailey slip, Jerry Jones might get aggressive. Schefter also noted that the Cowboys would like to hold on to pick No. 20, which could lead to some very interesting trade discussions with Cleveland GM Andrew Berry.
There is also talk about the Kansas City Chiefs looking to move up from the ninth overall selection if a prospect they want falls.
With just days remaining until the opening of the 2026 NFL draft, rumors will continue to strengthen as teams look forward to what might happen Thursday night.
At this point in the NFL draft process, do you believe rumors more or less than you did a month ago?
