Barcelona star Raphinha admitted he got a little lucky with his winning goal against Real Madrid in Sunday’s Spanish Super Cup final.
The Brazilian scored the opening goal in the game and was on target
again to make it 3-2, slipping as he fired a deflected shot past Thibaut Courtois in the Madrid goal.
Raphinha was asked about his winner afterwards and admitted he got the rub of the green.
“We gave it our all, it was very hot, I got a little emotional at the end of the game, it was what we needed,” he told Movistar.
“A little bit of work and in the end, if you work well, luck will come your way. I work very hard, I try to give my best for the team and sometimes, with a bit of luck, it even works out for me.”
Raphinha also spoke about returning defender Ronald Araujo, making it clear just how happy the team are to see the defender back in action.
“We were able to show him what we feel for him, the affection, he is very important to us and we count on him,” he said.
Raphinha and Barca will now celebrate winning another title under Hansi Flick before returning home to a Copa del Rey tie against Racing.
