MLB | Bryan Hoch: He’s not just the Captain of the most storied franchise in the history of Major League Baseball. He’s also the Captain of Team USA as the red, white, and blue get ready for the World Baseball Classic. And though that will require Aaron Judge’s absence from the Yankees in March, skipper Aaron Boone is on board. “I think the fact that Aaron Judge is captaining the U.S. team, I think it’s the right thing,” Boone opined on Monday. “I’m excited for him to play in this kind of environment.
Hopefully it’s a few weeks [where Judge is] away, and then we get him back.”
MLB | Bryan Hoch: What are the five greatest seasons in the long history of the New York Yankees? It doesn’t matter what you answered. You’re wrong. In an attempt to quantify it, Hoch looks at the five winningest iterations of the Yanks, headlined by one of the greatest teams in recent history. The ‘98 Yankees. I won’t give away the rest of the list, but the 1927 “Murderer’s Row” Yankees also make the list. Read and find out for the other three.
ESPN | Buster Olney and Jesse Rogers: Are you bored near to death by the Yankees’ off-season? You’re not the only one. Blessedly, Tuesday at least provided some crumbs. Buster Olney reports that the Yankees and Cody Bellinger, while they’re still negotiating, have considerable daylight between the two sides. Olney speculates that any Belli deal will need to meet the AAV that the versatile slugger earned last season while playing in the Bronx. Rogers, meanwhile, expects a “full court press” from the Yanks to keep Bellinger.
