Daniel Cormier tried to warn us.
In fact, Cormier just came right out and said “Alex Pereira is a liar” — and it turns out ”DC” was right. “Poatan” recently told Ariel Helwani that he did, in fact, author the tweet that blasted UFC for its matchmaking ultimatum despite this follow-up tweet that claimed he was hacked.
Relive the drama here and here.
“It was a miscommunication because Alex found out through social media and stuff like that and he was upset, that’s why he sent that tweet,” Pereira’s manager
explained. “But he regrets it because he was wrong. He didn’t know anything that was going on. It was kind of a miscommunication between camp and manager and UFC, but it’s not the UFC’s fault. He just said that.“
Despite the “miscommunication,” Pereira will move forward and rematch Magomed Ankalaev atop the UFC 320 fight card next month in Las Vegas. The marks the first fight for both combatants since UFC 313 last March, when “Big Ank” captured the crown with a decision win over “Poatan.”
