Eagles head of security (and a handful of other important titles) Dom “Big Dom” DiSandro was once an unknown figure who moved in the shadows, but in recent years has received his flowers from just about everyone inside the organization for his contributions to the team’s success.
When Big Dom was suspended by the NFL after an altercation with Dre Greenlaw during an Eagles-49ers game, instead of being punished by his own organization, he was technically promoted. Now, DiSandro is reportedly being investigated
regarding allegations of an incident involving former Eagles defender Emmanuel Acho years ago.
The investigation was recently reported by Derrick Gunn, who posted:
“The NFL is still investigating Eagles head of security Dom DiSandro based on comments made by Emmanuel Acho on his Speakeasy Podcast back in early August … Acho who played for 3 NFL teams never mentioned a name . But it has been widely speculated he was referring to Big Dom “
For the uninitiated, Acho told a story from his playing daysof getting into a car accident and calling the team’s head of security for help. Acho alleged that that person set in motion a plan for the first cop at the scene to leave and a second cop to come in, place blame on the other driver, and keep things quiet for Acho. The former NFL player turned hot take artist didn’t specify whether this happened while he was with the Eagles, Giants, or Browns, but the assumption afterward was that it could’ve taken place in Philly.
DiSandro recently gave his first-ever interview, after turning them down for years, and sat down with newly anointed Eagles fan Pete Davidson. The biggest takeaway from this 23-minute chat was how much he prioritizes player health and safety, which largely includes their mental health, and how he’s committed to players, both current and former. Philadelphia’s favorite cannoli expert even created a type of big brother program, pairing up guys in the locker room to learn from each other or help each other dealing with similar issues.
We’ll have to see how the NFL’s investigation shakes out, and whether or not Big Dom faces any kind of punishment.
