It’s official. The Wisconsin Badgers have signed Old Dominion transfer quarterback Colton Joseph, adding to what has been a very successful first weekend of visits with the transfer portal.
Joseph, a sophomore,
was the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year in 2025, throwing for 2,624 yards, 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. One of the top dual-threats in the country, the 6’3, 205-pound signal-caller also ran for 1,007 yards and 13 touchdowns.
That followed a freshman season where Joseph had 1,627 passing yards to go with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions in the air. He added 647 yards and 11 scores on the ground as well.
Joseph is a good fit with offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes’s scheme, adding a dual-threat presence, as well as the downfield passing ability, having averaged over 15 yards a completion this season. His addition comes after Wisconsin added a running back and tight end in the transfer portal on Saturday.
Joseph will have two more years of eligibility remaining and is a big domino for the Badgers, who are looking to add several receivers to the room and round out their 2025 roster. We’re already seeing the effects of the increased spending in Madison with a number of top targets committing to Luke Fickell already.
Wisconsin should add another quarterback in the transfer portal to add some more depth in the room. They currently have Danny O’Neil, who will have a long rehab ahead, Carter Smith, and incoming freshman Ryan Hopkins as the quarterbacks in the room.
