As noted in our latest Rumor Roundup, it’s believed Rey Mysterio suffered a shoulder injury last night (Jan. 26) on WWE Raw . During the 51-year-old Hall of Famer’s match with Austin Theory, they ended
a sequence with Mysterio hurricanrana-ing Theory to the ground outside the ring. Mysterio’s reaction immediately indicates something was off, which Dragon Lee seemed to confirm when he checked on Rey.
The finish quickly followed, with Theory hitting a curbstomp before pinning Mysterio. He quickly grabbed at his right arm while communicating with the referee. Theory’s Vision teammates Logan Paul, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed arrived for a beatdown of Penta and Lee, but Rey was being checked on by trainers on the apron while that scene played out.
No word on the severity of Mysterio’s injury, but Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net also reported that Rey was “legitimately injured and taken to the back by medical personnel.”
Mysterio just returned from a groin injury last November, and seemed poised to restart his feud with son and AAA Megachampion Dominik Mysterio in WWE’s new lucha libre promotion in addition to his recent work against The Vision on Raw. We’ll hope for the best, and see how much WWE has to change plans after we get a prognosis.
