A former accountant who once worked for Hulk Hogan has been federally indicted on six counts of wire fraud for allegedly embezzling more than $890,000.
TMZ first reported on the indictment of Melissia Gauthreaux, who was said to have allegedly embezzled the money from a “public figure” who lived in Florida. The alleged crime took place between 2017 and 2021. Though the alleged victim was not named in the indictment, Hogan did live in Florida during that time period, and Gauthreaux worked for him during those
years. Even still, the WWE Hall of Famer was not identified by federal officials in the indictment.
According to TMZ, officials accuse Melissia Gauthreaux of using her business, Accounting Resources and Management Services, to embezzle the money.
“Gauthreaux had signatory authority, according to the federal indictment, meaning she could sign docs on behalf of the alleged victim, allegedly allowing her to divert funds without consent,” TMZ reported.
The outlet also noted that if she is convicted, Gauthreaux faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each count.
Hogan died last July of cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. He was 71 years old at the time of his passing.
Hulk’s name has also been in the headlines this week his racism scandal was referenced during Netflix’s The Roast of Kevin Hart. During Hart’s portion on the show, which aired live on Sunday (May 10), he named Hogan to his “Mount Rushmore of Racism.”
Hogan’s racism scandal stemmed from reporting by The National Enquirer and Radar Online about a racist rant caught on a sex tape, a portion of which was originally published by Gawker. Hogan later won a lawsuit against Gawker, which forced the outlet to file for bankruptcy. However, his use of the n-word on the leaked tape resulted in his temporary firing from WWE, and his reputation continues to suffer to this day.
Hart’s Hogan reference came after he jabbed at comedian Shane Gillis, who acted as the emcee of the evening’s roast.
“Shane Gillis, as a host, show him some love. Seriously, what a good set. What a good set. I’ll be honest with you, Shane Gillis was one Bud Light away from calling me a n***** on this stage tonight,” the acting star joked. “One Bud Light! ‘N*****.’ He wanted to say it! Shane is on my Mount Rushmore of Racism.”
Hart continued: “My Mount Rushmore of Racism, when it comes to hating Black people: Shane Gillis, Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan, Stephen A. Smith. Those are my four people when it comes to hating Black people.”
