How’d We Do Last Week?
As a refresher, each week I will feature the Most Accurate, Most interesting, and Most Wildly Inaccurate takes. Let’s get to it!
Most Wildly Inaccurate
To be honest, the takes were all very good last week. Good on everyone!
Most Interesting
Rice dishes during Tree work? Sure, why not! Also very close on the score pick
Most Accurate
The Hammer on back to back weeks. the 175+ 2TD pick for Walton is an absurd callout. Well done.
Now on to the Takes for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they take on the Stanford Cardinal!
Cold Take
3 Point game going into the half
This game is going to be close, at least in the
first half. The environment in Provo will be a LOT for the Irish to handle. That’s not to say they’ll shit the bed or aren’t ready to play, but I expect the first half to fly by and be a nail-biter. Both teams will look to establish the run and lean on their elite defenses. Neither side will want to make a big mistake early, so I expect both offenses to lean toward conservative game plans – a strategy I don’t necessarily agree with. Part of me hopes Denbrock lets it rip with Carr and turns him loose, but that’s historically not how he operates.
Side note, how great is it to be in a real big time game week? Let’s keep the juices flowing.
Hot Take
Traore has a momentum changing strip sack for a TD for the Irish
Traore has had a fantastic season and has burst onto the national scene over the last couple of weeks. He is a grown man who will be facing a BYU backup tackle with starter Andrew Gentry out. Traore has flashed freakish athleticism, and his ascent will continue under the lights in Provo. Chris Ash will do everything he can to keep Bear Bachmeier contained in the pocket with a linebacker spy, opening the door for Traore to win in one-on-one situations. As I noted in my hot take, this game will remain tight early in the second half until Traore changes the game with a big play, leading to a scoop-and-score that puts the Irish up 10. That will completely change how BYU approaches the game and allow Notre Dame to pull away comfortably in the fourth quarter.
