When Kelani Jordan defeated Wren Sinclair by cheating at Halloween Havoc, she kept her NXT women’s championship but was almost instantly informed she would have to put the title on the line just days later on this week’s mega episode of NXT television on The CW.
Her opponent would remain a mystery all the way up until walking out to the ring for their match. Considering the show, you knew they were going to dig deep into the bag for a name that would only make sense for being a name.
Sure enough, Paige
answered the call.
She’s got history here, of course. She won the NXT women’s title all the way back in 2013, the first to ever do it. She technically never lost it, as she was forced to vacate the gold when she moved up to the main roster and beat AJ Lee for the Divas championship. That’s how long ago this all went down.
At one time, though, this was indeed her house.
It is her house no longer.
To be clear, she was way out ahead for most of the match. She was in control most of the way but she had a neck issue, couldn’t get Jordan up late, and the champ ended up rolling her up for a surprise pinfall victory to retain her title.
No surprises here.
