BYU added its first commitment this transfer portal cycle as Oregon Wide Receiver Kyler Kasper announced his commitment to BYU. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
Kyler is a big bodied receiver, listed at 6-foot-6 and 212 pounds. He was a highly-rated
prospect out of high school due to his size and speed combination, rated 4 stars and top 175 recruit in the country.
Kyler has spent the last four years at Oregon and his production has not come close to that rating. In four seasons, Kyler has 6 receptions for 77 yards. This past season he had 2 receptions for 51 yards. BYU needs an outside WR to replace Chase Roberts, and BYU will bank on the measurables and skill set translating to more production on the field.
Kyler played in fewer than three games as a freshman in 2022 and redshirted; he played in just four games in 2024 as a redshirt sophomore before missing the rest of the season due to injury, which allowed him to use a medical redshirt that season and give him 6 seasons of eligibility.
He joins a WR room that includes Parker Kingston, Jojo Phillips, Cody Hagen, Tiger Bachmeier, some young guys, and potentially other portal additions.
