West Virginia rolled past Manhattan 5–2 this afternoon at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, with all five Mountaineer goals coming in the first 34 minutes. Pablo Pozos led the charge with a hat trick in the 9th, 11th, and 30th minutes. Marcus Caldeira added a goal in the 25th, and Ethan Dekel Daks capped the blitz in the 33rd.
Isaac Scheer set up three goals, Caldeira and Oscar Trujillo Lizárraga each added two assists, and Felix Ewald and Antonio Lima each chipped in one as WVU carved up the Jaspers’ defense.
The Mountaineers racked up 14 shots (10 on target) and eight corners by halftime to put the game firmly out of reach.
With the match under control, WVU started running through its bench, and the pace slowed. Manhattan managed goals in the 20th and 79th minutes, but otherwise posed little threat. Goalkeeper Marc Bonnaire finished with one save, denying Henry Reinhart in the 14th minute on the Jaspers’ only other shot on frame.
The women’s team will now cap things off with the back half of today’s doubleheader against Akron, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+, with live radio coverage on 91.7 FM (WWVU).
