SmackDown airs tonight (Oct. 24) with a live show emanating from Mullett Arena in Tempe, Arizona. This is the second episode of SmackDown during the seven week build to Survivor Series, which takes place on November 29.
WWE needs to get a clue on Jacob Fatu’s injury
Jacob Fatu was attacked backstage on SmackDown last week and laid out in a pile of his own teeth. Drew McIntyre quickly denied having anything to do with it, which means there’s a mystery afoot to find the identity of the culprit.
McIntyre remains the number one suspect, because he’s
a troll whose word can’t be taken at face value. GM Nick Aldis was on the verge of threatening him with some kind of major disciplinary action if he finds out that Drew did it. McIntyre has already benefited from Fatu’s attack, as he didn’t have to fight Jacob in a number one contender’s match last week, and is now getting a match against WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1.
Rhodes is also a suspect. Did you see the way he snapped and lost his mind on Drew last week? Maybe he went insane earlier in the night on Fatu, who point-blank told Cody that he’s coming to take his title away. This man is clearly unhinged, and plenty of folks have been fantasy booking his heel turn for a while.
There’s a whole locker room of potential wrestlers who could have taken out Fatu. How about Randy Orton? The MFTs? Wyatt Sicks? Aleister Black? Kit Wilson? Naomi? How long will it be until WWE secures the backstage footage and catches the guilty party? Is Fatu in any kind of shape to explain what he remembers about the attack?
Tune into SmackDown tonight to get an update on Jacob Fatu’s condition and to see if WWE has any clues that will help solve the mystery of who did it.
The rest of the card
WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton wants to bounce back from her loss at Crown Jewel, and Kiana James was bold enough to get in her face about it last week. Stratton challenged her to a match for tonight, so I assume it will happen. Is this leading to an angle or match between Stratton and Women’s United States Champion Giulia?
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– Solo Sikoa and his new-look MFTs are running wild on SmackDown right now. They attacked Sami Zayn and new United States Champion Ilja Dragunov last week, before once again being confronted by WWE Tag Team Champions Wyatt Sicks. Is this year’s men’s WarGames match going to center on MFT vs. the Wyatts, or are they not high enough on the card to get that spot over main event stars like Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, LA Knight, The Brons, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, and so forth?
– Speaking of Dragunov, will he continue on with the concept of weekly open challenges for the U.S. title?
– Aleister Black says his alignment with Zelina Vega was always the plan, and nobody is more violent than his wife. That latter point needs to be established on TV before we can just take their word for it. Who will Vega victimize tonight?
– Carmelo Hayes gave The Miz a taste of his own medicine last week by taking out The A-Lister as he was about to answer the U.S. title open challenge. At this point it seems like it’s time for these guys to have an official match, so when will it be booked?
– DIY returned to SmackDown last week to trash talk Fraxiom and take issue with the idea that they deserve a tag team title shot. Fraxiom said they’ll fight DIY anytime, anywhere. Does that mean it’s happening tonight?
– WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss need new challengers after defeating Sol Ruca and Zaria. The Kabuki Warriors put the champs on notice earlier this week when they said they are coming after the gold. Will Asuka and Kairi Sane show up on SmackDown tonight to force the issue, or will the champs have to make the trek over to Raw next week?
– The Motor City Machine Guns finally got something going last week with a victory against Los Garza. Do the Street Profits now get to replace MCMG backstage at WWE catering?
– Chelsea Green is still searching for a new member of the Secret Hervice due to Piper Niven’s injury. Is there any woman left on the SmackDown roster who has yet to receive the offer?
– Shinsuke Nakamura is focused on winning a world title, not retirement. What does the 45-year-old star plan to do to get on GM Nick Aldis’ radar for a future world tile shot?
– Are part-timers Brock Lesnar and YouTube douchebag Logan Paul returning to WWE for Survivor Series?
– How much time does Damian Priest need to recover after getting a fireball thrown in his face two weeks ago?
– Is there any truth to the rumor that Jade Cargill will receive yet another shot at the WWE women’s championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event?
– Where the f*** is Santos Escobar?
What will you be looking for on SmackDown?
