Time for the Guardians to show true grit and dig out of this untimely slide, as they head to Arlington to face the Rangers.
Matt Seese and I did a fun podcast last night where we drafted Guardians players, free agents and trade targets to make two teams for 2026. It feels like it’s time to turn our attention in that direction. Of course, it is bugging me that I said Ryan O’Hearn would get 3/70, and that is crazy. I meant he could get 3/$50-3/$60. So, now you know. Anyway, I think you’ll enjoy the
discussion we had.
Yesterday was an interesting day because I wrote an article asking Hector Gomez to explain why he tweeted that more Guardians pitchers would be placed on leave in the coming days in connection with the gambling scandal and Gomez responded that he hoped I would apologize when the truth comes out and proves him right. MLB has seemingly made clear to Cleveland that no one else will be affected by the investigation, so this is a headscratcher. Guess we will all find out on August 31st.
Zack Meisel has some analysis of the Guardians’ hitting woes today for the Athletic.
AROUND MLB:
The Royals beat the Rangers again. The Rangers are struggling. Will that continue? Haha.
The Red Sox beat the Yankees, whose fans are freaking out that they are 4-13 against the Red Sox and Blue Jays this season. You hate to see it.
