The Cleveland Browns may have suffered a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Vikings last week, but are they about to turn the corner? They are committed to Dillon Gabriel as their starter for the season now, and the running game showed a lot of promise last week. Will they open the offense up more this week? And can the Browns defense force Aaron Rodgers into some mistakes? The game against Pittsburgh is huge because the AFC North could be wide open. But if Cleveland loses, then the division quickly
turns into a distant dream.
Here is what the national media is saying about the Week 6 game between the Browns and Steelers:
CBS Sports (Pete Prisco) – Steelers 21, Browns 18
The Steelers are coming off a bye, while the Browns are coming off a loss to the Vikings in London last week. Dillon Gabriel made his first start at quarterback in that game and handled himself well, but didn’t roll up big numbers as they played it safe. The Steelers have played well in getting to 3-1, especially Aaron Rodgers. But this Browns defense will keep them in the game. It’s close.
CBS Sports (John Breech) – Steelers 23, Browns 20
Sporting News (Vinnie Iyer) – Steelers 23, Browns 14
Aaron Rodgers is 15-6 after bye weeks in his career. Mike Tomlin is 13-4. That’s a bad 1-2 punch for Cleveland, which goes from London to Pittsburgh with their hosts coming off a week off. The Steelers found their pass rush again in Week 4 and although they can give up some on the ground to rookie Quinshon Judkins, they will get in the face of Dillon Gabriel often in his true first career road start.
Sporting News (Bill Bender) – Steelers 26, Browns 16
Dillon Gabriel did not make any major mistakes in his debut as a starter – but the Browns will have to take more chances on the road against Pittsburgh. The Steelers had a week to rest from their London trip. The Browns did not. Opposing QBs have 10 TDs and no interceptions against Cleveland this season. Aaron Rodgers can work with that. The Steelers have won the last four home meetings by an average of 10.7 points per game.
