Demetrius Knight Jr. was drafted because of his great awareness and ability to come in immediately and make a difference.
And boy did he deliver.
After an underwhelming preseason, Knight came alive when it mattered, recording 10 tackles in his debut for the Cincinnati Bengals against the Cleveland Browns yesterday.
The rookie had 10 tackles, which is the most in a Bengal debut since Keith Rivers in 2010.
Eight of those
10 tackles came in the first half, after which Jay Morrison posted this:
Clearly, Knight’s talents translate to the professional level.
But perhaps the best part was his interview after the game, when the rookie said, “We’re nasty, and we’re hungry.” He talked about how he expects to hold teams to even fewer than the 16 points they allowed against Cleveland. He also humbly gave credit to the veterans around him.
Up next, Knight and the Bengals will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in their home opener.
