The Tennessee Titans will officially begin training camp on July 28th when the veterans report to Vanderbilt Health Football Camp in Nashville. We’ll be previewing several position groups until then. The Titans have 16 offensive linemen on the offseason roster. It’s the most concerning position group on the entire roster.
In camp (16): Dan Moore, Peter Skoronski, Austin Schlottmann, Cordell Volson, JC Latham, Jackson Slater, Fernando Carmona, Pat Coogan, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Austin Deculus, Garrett
Dellinger, Ryan Hayes, Aamil Wagner, Andre James, Rasheed Miller, Drew Moss.
Biggest storyline: Will this Titans offensive line be effective enough to protect sophomore quarterback Cam Ward? Ward took a league-high 55 sacks last season and this unit has more question marks than last year’s did. There’s excitement over Brian Daboll running the offense. The offensive line needs to ensure it doesn’t derail the whole thing.
Most to prove: Right tackle JC Latham is coming off a disappointing sophomore season that was hampered by injury and consistency issues. The Titans will have to make a decision on Latham’s fifth-year option next offseason. He’ll also become eligible for a contract extension.
Breakout star: Are we sure they have a breakout star on the roster? Left guard Peter Skoronski is already considered a top-1o guard in the NFL. If Jackson Slater can win the opposite guard job, then he makes the most sense as a potential breakout player.
Training camp competition: The Titans will be holding a competition at right guard throughout training camp. Slater and veteran free-agent signing Cordell Volson are competing for the starting gig. The Titans desperately need one of them to emerge as a quality option. There’s also competition for the backup tackle spots behind Latham and Dan Moore. Can one of the undrafted free agents (Aamil Wagner) make the 53-man roster over Austin Deculus?
