Atletico boss Diego Simeone is in the spotlight again after having been spotted seemingly taunting Lamine Yamal during Thursday’s Copa del Rey semi-final first leg.
Simeone was seen waving three fingers at Yamal after seeing Ademola Lookman net his team’s third goal of the match.
It’s not the first time this season that Simeone has got involved
with players during a match. He tangled with Vinicius Jr earlier this season and was heard saying “Florentino is going to kick you out!” The Atletico boss subsequently apologised.
“I’d like to apologise to Mr. Florentino and Mr. Vinícius for what happened,” he told reporters. “Obviously it wasn’t right to put myself in that position, and I accept, obviously, that I didn’t do the right thing.”
Atletico are now in total command of the tie after their convincing win, but there is a second leg still to play at the Camp Nou and Hansi Flick hasn’t given up hope yet.
“We are capable of coming back. We will fight and for that reason we need our fans at Spotify Camp Nou,” he said. “We have a chance of turning it around. We can win each half 2-0.”
