Against Manchester City, Real Madrid stalwart Fede Valverde showed that he could rise above all of the other stars on the squad and carry the load.
His ex-teammate and German legend; Toni Kroos, think that Valverde has the exact makeup to be a problem for Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Kroos thinks Valverde’s performance vs. Manchester City could be the impetus for the 27-year-old to have an important role vs. the Bavarians.
“You could say that in what was, up to that point, a mediocre season
for Real Madrid, he had the feeling that he was able to carry the team a bit on his shoulders,” said Kroos (as captured by Sport Bild). “Things weren’t perfect for him either, but this momentum, this Man City game, isn’t a complete coincidence for me, because he’s simply a guy who has not only quality but also the right mentality. Since then, he’s been flying all over the pitch. It’s truly incredible what he’s playing at the moment. I hope it lasts a long time because I have a very good relationship with him.”
The tough part about facing Real Madrid is that there are just so many star players to account for and at any point, any of them could explode and drop a game-changing performance.
This season, though Bayern Munich’s opponents have been left feeling pretty much the same way. What a tie this is lining up to be…
