Sources say the Cubs are stockpiling Quad-A type pitchers. Corbin Martin and Tyler Beede are reportedly in the organization now.
Cub Tracks is happy to mea culpa after the big-boy signings last week. The position here was never that the Cubs were ‘cheap’ — indeed, it was that they didn’t want to win as badly as they claimed they did. It felt like 2021 all over again.
The larger-view speculation was that the Cubs were principal drivers in the salary-cap movement, in another attempt to preserve the precious
profit margin.
That might still be the case, given the separate tracks they run on in most cases. The Rickettses sure don’t look cheap right now — but the inner voice warns of the sell-off should this not work.
Developments will develop.
